-Jason Sherman

Jason is a lifelong resident of the northwest corner of Connecticut and Millerton, NY. He has been working with people struggling with substance use disorders for over 20 years, and owned and operated two sober living homes in the area for 8 years. He worked very hard, along with a community of others, to help many young people and adults find freedom from addiction. They also volunteered their time at the the local community center and helped with Midnight Runs: a program that delivers food, clothing, and necessities to the homeless population in New York City. In recent years, Jason has been working with young populations in intensive inpatient facilities. He worked with adolescents suffering from substance use and mental health disorders in both private and correctional environments. Jason is certified in SBIRT screening, and is certified as an alcohol and drug counselor both in the State of CT and Internationally.

Jason is grateful to be a part of the change in this area, and continues to strive to help others. "It's been amazing to see all of the good in this community over the years; there's no doubt that this area is magic. I'm lucky to have been a part of people's lives and to see them recover, and then use their past suffering to help others. The credit is there's, of course. Success of any kind at some point requires a course of action to be taken by the person whom is to be successful. But being able to provide a safe environment and a knowledge of alternative ideas and resources is what I have to offer. I've worked very hard, for a long time, to understand what this means and how best to utilize these assets. The therapeutic relationship is very special in that it optimally offers the client a two-fold opportunity. It serves to learn about self, relationships and to heal emotionally. It should also help one begin to make a practical plan to move forward toward achieving their goals. This balance is imperative, and without one the other is practically ineffective. This balance is what I hope to help people achieve, because it makes facing a struggle like addiction possible. I like to engage clients from a strengths-based approach, am proficient in knowledge of evidence-based models proven effective in treating addiction, traditional, and 12-Step recovery approaches, and am trained to work with individuals to build a unique treatment plan that works for them. I feel the best at that time when research is gone, however. When two people are connected and it's a point of humanity that can't be measured quantitatively. There may be many similar situations, but there will never be the exact same one. It's special and needs to be treated with respect and care. This is where I feel the most helpful. Studies will tell us things, but the connections we develop are what will ultimately motivate us. I can't express my gratitude for being able to work with Steve, who has mentored me for two decades, and to be in the community I grew up in; I will bring my passion for this work into all I do for our clients".

Stephen M. Haley, MSW, LCSW

Steve is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience  treating children, adolescents, adults and families through a diversity  of models. Steve is extremely effective with high conflict families and  provides parent management strategies for families and children  experiencing disruptive behavior disorders such as ADHD and  Oppositional Defiant Disorder. He has considerable experience in  treating adults, children, and adolescents with a variety of issues  including trauma, depression, alcoholism/substance abuse, and anxiety  disorders. Steve treats singles and couples with relationship issues through a  short term, solution- focused model. He has a diversity of experience working with families experiencing the painful process of separation and  divorce. The techniques that he utilizes in therapy are specialized for  each individual's distinct challenges.

"I provide short-term and long-term therapy to individuals, children,  teens, parents, couples and families. My primary goal is to help  alleviate marriage, family and individual distress and dysfunction. In  so doing I will help my clients to open the door to optimal mental and  emotional health so that they may be able to embrace the life they  desire. I believe in treatment from a systemic and structural approach  and enjoy working with clients to create custom treatment goals that are  unique to their life situations.  My style is caring, supportive,  direct and results oriented. In short, I believe that it is far more  important to assist clients to enhance the quality of their lives,  rather than solely assisting them to understand where their problems  initiated".

**Unfortunately, due to other professional commitments including his own successful private practice, Steve is unable to accept more clients in his work at Lighthouse Counseling.  Steve can be contacted directly through his website at www.haleycc.com  . Thank you.**
